This Native American style stone Tomahawk measures 15 inches long, and is made from a wood handle, which is wrapped in a leather thong and holds the stone in place. Not decorated with all the bells and whistles as later reproductions, I believe this to be a ceremonial hatchet from the early twentieth century, circa 1910. The stone has been decorated with blue, red and white paint, as has the handle. It appears that the handle is also leather wrapped, but the wrapping has deteriorated.
The hatchet stone is approximately 4 inches high, 6 inches wide, and anywhere from 3/4 to 1 1/2 thick. An awesome addition to any collection.
