Zypcoat HTO is a water-based blend of Hafnium Oxide (HfO2) and Titanium Oxide (TiO2) in a 2/3 to 1/3 molar ratio, forming a unique Hf-Ti-O solid solution with near-zero thermal expansion. This solution remains stable up to 2000C, exhibits high electrical resistivity, and bonds well with refractory substrates. It's non-reactive with many ceramics and alloys, even in molten form. After heating to 1300-1600C on an Alumina substrate, the coating is over 97% HfO2-TiO2, with the rest likely being Al2O3 in solid solution. References: 1. Skaggs, 1977; 2. Holcombe et al., 1974.
